PELL CITY PENS SEEKS SPONSORS for ALL DIVISIONS of OUR WRITERS CONTEST in 2010

The Daily Home/ St. Clair Times and the Pell City Library co-sponsored the Pell City Pens annual writers contest from 2005 to 2008. Due to the increased price of paper and funding for literary organizations being slashed in half, neither could sponsor us in 2009. We're grateful for the stable foundation that both co-sponsors created for our contest with their generous support.

The number of thank-you letters P. C. Pens has received from teachers, parents and contestants reinforced our belief that this contest provides much needed resources for beginner and intermediate writers.

If the economy improves this fall and next spring, we will reinstate the contest in 2010, expanding the eligibility region to include 8 other southern states. We will continue to feature the same low entry fees for adults, no fees for tweens, teens and high-schoolers, and brief comments on all entries.

The contest will be expanded into 4 divisions, with a slight increase in the award amounts for every division except adults. Instead of seeking only two sponsors to provide all of the prizes, we will ask individuals and businesses to volunteer to sponsor one division or one category within a division for one or more years.

All sponsors will receive acknowledgment in the printed awards program, flyers, newspaper articles, and on literary and cultural websites. For fuller details or to make a donation, please contact Janice Wiley-Dorn, P. C. Pens Contest Director:
